Now Reading: The Poisonwood Bible
I'm about halfway through this very disturbing book. I'll write my reflections on it when I'm through. In the meantime, see Dr. Howard Snyder's review.
Just looked at the review. Sounds interesting and funny. Is it? I love the quote which gives the book it's title. Brought back a memory of a person testifying and saying: "Jesus saves us from our fishes," as a mis-spoken Spanish phrase on a Honduras trip many years ago. There was also one about a dog that someone said wrong and well... yeah, it's pretty important to get those words and phrases right if you want to be understood. LOL
when you are done with that you need to get ahold (sp??) of King Leopold's ghost which is an account of the belgian colonial rule in the Congo. poisonwood was an excellent read.
For 27 years I've been married to Corky Alexander, whose varied interests (corkyalexander.blogspot.com) have meant that we are never bored. I'm the mother of 3 lovely girls (Hope, Emma and Leslie), the mother-in-law of Josh Butcher, and the grandmother (Marmie) of Wilson Alexander Butcher (a.k.a. Lex). I teach Historical Theology at the Church of God Theological Seminary.
